Guernsey Finance to host Sustainable Finance Seminar in London

Biodiversity, disaster response and humanitarian aid are just some of the topics that will be covered at Guernsey Finance’s first London-based Sustainable Finance Seminar.

The event will amplify Guernsey’s strong commitment to the sustainable finance agenda through topical discussions on the implementation of developments in sustainable finance and its role in facilitating these developments.

The event will include a keynote address from Emmanuelle Bury, UK Country Head of BNP Paribas. Emmanuelle will discuss her role at the Sustainable Markets Initiative, following His Majesty King Charles III’s visit with members of the SMI to Guernsey earlier this year. Emanuelle has been BNP Paribas’ Country Head for the UK for almost two years. She oversees 8,000 colleagues who work across investment banking, markets, real estate, leasing and personal financial services.

Sustainability specialists Ana Haurie, Co-founder and CEO of Respira International, Amy Lazenby, Senior Investment Director and Team Head at Close Brothers Asset Management, and Ruth Murray, Investment Director at Gresham House, will discuss how the private sector can pioneer sustainable developments.

The second panel will cover the ways in which Guernsey provides support for global clients within sustainable finance, through regulation, administration, and director services. Panellists include Matthew Brehaut, Partner at Carey Olsen, Pawel Czarnecki, Private Client Director at Ocorian, Charlotte Parr, Director at Imperium Fund Services Limited, Mike Pickard, Director of Global (Re) Insurance / ILS Management at Aon, and Justin Sykes, Managing Director at Innovest Advisory.

Guernsey Finance’s Head of Strategy and Sustainable Finance, Stephanie Glover, said: “As a representative of Guernsey, a leading finance centre strongly committed to the cause of sustainable finance, we’re pleased to be hosting such important discussions.

“Particularly as we inch closer to 2030, we cannot afford to let the opportunities for the private sector to contribute to net zero goals slip through our fingers. We must stay on top of market needs and this event will put attendees in a good position to do so.”

The event will take place at 12 Hay Hill, Mayfair, on Wednesday 20 November.
