Jim Elliott is the Chief Executive Officer of Invicta Wealth Solutions Limited (“Invicta”), a leading financial services company based in Guernsey. Grant McLeod

South Africa Business Development Representative Guernsey Finance
Grant was appointed as South African Representative for Guernsey Finance in March 2021. He has more than two decades of financial services experience in senior business development roles in South Africa, UK and the Cayman Islands. He was educated in the UK and South Africa. He has worked in private banking, wealth management and fiduciary services in South Africa in a number of senior roles representing global companies. As well as a BCom from the University of Witwatersrand, Grant holds a UK accounting and South African CFP qualification, and is a member of CII and CISI in the UK.

Leah Trisha Mannie

Pension and Business Development Manager Sovereign Group

Leah Trisha Mannie specialises in assisting clients with bespoke international retirement planning as well as structuring offshore companies and discretionary trusts.

Starting in compliance when she joined Sovereign in 2014, she studied compliance with the International Compliance Association. 

She is the Pensions and Business Development Manager for Sovereign Trust (SA) Limited and has grown with the group over the years. She has a wealth of knowledge in offshore retirement planning and structuring and regularly contributes to articles to provide educational pieces and participates in radio interviews.

Nel Schoeman

Client Relationship Director Invicta

Nel Schoeman is a South African qualified lawyer and serves as Client Relationship Director of Invicta Wealth Solutions in Guernsey. Nel relocated to Guernsey as part of a small team and built a successful fiduciary office for UHNW families. He has extensive experience in offshore trust and corporate administration on a wide range of structures from simple to complex, including being involved with drafting and implementation of family governance charters.

Prior to relocating to Guernsey, he advised on tax and exchange control implications of offshore trust and corporate structures from a South African perspective and has broad insight into the ongoing tax and exchange control implications associated with setup and ongoing administration of offshore trust structures. 

A particular area of interest for Nel is the reporting on trust related parties under the AEoI / CRS regime. Another area Nel is passionate about is the intersection between traditional trust administration and fiduciary obligations and the growing need and desire for impact and ESG driven investment strategies i.e. how trust structures could be used as powerful vehicles for change through impact investment. He also has experience in understanding and evaluating the impact of the recent implementation of the EU Economic Substance Regulations.

Marcél Treurnicht

Private Capital & Trust Lawyer Walkers

Marcél is a Private Capital & Trust lawyer at Walkers' Guernsey office, a member of the Walkers Global Fintech Group, and a full member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He advises on the set-up and use of Guernsey companies, trusts and foundations, and has a particular interest in employee benefit schemes, unit trusts as well as more unconventional trust structures used in the digital space. 

Having spent several years working in Hong Kong before joining Walkers, Marcél has experience in the use of structures for private wealth planning purposes assisting wealthy families with tax mitigation, asset protection and succession planning. In addition to and from a corporate trust perspective, he has advised several ListCos on the formation and use of employee benefit schemes prior to an initial public offering.  

With a keen interest in the digital economy, Marcél has assisted a number of decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) on how to utilise trust structures to bridge the gap between the digital and traditional economies while maintaining the integrity of decentralisation. Additionally, he has utilised Guernsey foundations for the protection, administration and exploitation of intellectual property assets owned by DAOs. 

Marcél is a dual-qualified lawyer in South Africa and England & Wales with several years' experience working in Cape Town, Hong Kong and Guernsey.
