Guernsey practitioners among wealth management leaders
A host of Guernsey finance and legal professionals have been included in the Citywealth Leaders List 2010.
In total 33 have been singled out in this year’s directory of prominent wealth management practitioners from the UK and Crown Dependencies. Five have made it into the top 10 or 20 of their respective sector rankings.
Paul Hodgson, Managing Director of Butterfield Trust, Gavin St Pier, Chairman of Mercator, and Quentin Vohmann, Finance Director at Legis are all in the trustees top 20. Bob Moore, Managing Director of Butterfield Bank, is in the top 10 of private bankers and investment managers and Andrew Young, Group Director of Opus Private, is regarded as one of the top 20 in private wealth management.
Mr St Pier said the Citywealth recognition was a testament to the Mercator team’s highly skilled and dedicated staff, which have been part of the considerable growth the firm has witnessed over the past few years. David Preston, Managing Director of Mercator Trust, also appeared in the category of leading trustees.
“These acknowledgments are characterised by the quality of the team as a whole and a reflection of Mercator’s professionalism, expertise and high standards of service,” said Mr St Pier.
Mr Moore was similarly pleased with the recognition for the Butterfield Group in the various lists.
“The fact that a number of Butterfield representatives are included in this year’s annual leaders list endorses the wealth management expertise that is available within our group,” he said.
As well as Mr Vohmann, Legis also received acknowledgement for the performance of Alison Mahoney, Managing Director of Trust and Corporate and Adrian Relph, Director of Trust and Corporate as leading trustees.
Stuart Platt-Ransom, Group Managing Director, said the recognition further endorsed the quality and experience within the Legis team.
“Those included within the Citywealth Leaders List are acknowledged to possess a sterling reputation for expertise in their respective field. For Legis Group to have three names highlighted is a testament to the organisation. I am particularly pleased with Quentin Vohmann’s inclusion on the top 20 trustees,” said Mr Platt-Ransom.
Mr Young, who was recently appointed Group Director at Opus Private, has had an impressive career after previously being a Lawrence Graham LLP. In 2004 he was named private client solicitor of the year at the High Net Awards and in 2007, Wealth Magazine named him private client lawyer of the year.
Shane Giles, Group Director at Opus Private, said the latest accolade was testament to his exceptional career.
“We are pleased he is part of our international team and know he has the aptitude and award-winning legal experience to help drive further success of Opus Private in wealth management. He is leading our growth in Dubai and our commitment to providing a highly personalised, innovative and tailored customer service to a worldwide client base,” said Mr Giles.
Now in its fifth year of publication, the independent selection process is compiled through the recommendations of global peers and confidentially by private clients. A rigorous nomination process includes interviews, testimonials and other detailed research methods.
