Jo Kitcat – Guernsey Finance’s dedicated Business Development representative for the UK – will be joined by representatives from EY and Carey Olsen. Together, they will share their expertise on London Stock Exchange listings, Guernsey’s substance and regulation, and distribution of funds.

Discussions will include how UK managers can use Guernsey to list vehicles on UK/European exchanges and the ways in which UK managers use Guernsey to access UK/European investors.

The roadshow will conclude with our delegation physically attending the London Stock Exchange Annual Funds Conference 2024.

For nearly 50 years, Guernsey has provided an alternative but complementary domicile for fund managers to domicile their funds. It has a well-respected funds industry and a reputation as a jurisdiction of substance and fund innovation.

UK Representative Guernsey Finance
Jo joined the Guernsey Finance team in November 2021 as the agency’s UK representative on the ground in London, to maintain the island’s already strong relationship with the UK. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, primarily in business development roles. Jo has been responsible for building business relationships in various regions including UK, Switzerland, USA and Asia, and has also played a role in developing business with global financial institutions, particularly from an asset management perspective.

Tony Lane

Partner - Carey Olsen

Tony is a partner in the Corporate and Finance Group of Carey Olsen, one of the world's largest offshore law firms. Tony advises on all aspects of corporate law in Guernsey, with a particular focus on transformative corporate transactions including equity investments, IPOs, public takeovers, schemes of arrangement, joint ventures and private mergers and acquisitions. He also advises on the establishment, management and regulation of investment funds in Guernsey and has extensive experience in relation to Guernsey investment funds listed on the London markets. In the past year, Tony has acted on schemes of arrangement involving a number of London-listed investment vehicles, including Industrials REIT Limited, CT Property Trust Limited, Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Limited and abrdn Property Income Trust Limited.

Sam Shields

Director - NSM Funds
Sam joined NSM Funds in 2023 as Director responsible for commercial and strategic development.

Sam has over 16 years of fund administration experience covering both open and closed-ended funds with asset classes including equity, debt, infrastructure, real estate and private equity. He has considerable experience of listed structures and has been involved from enquiry through to listing. Most recently, Sam was the global head of open end listed retail products for a multinational fund administrator.

Sam is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and holds a professional certificate in marketing. He obtained Chartered Manager status with the Chartered Management Institute in January 2019.

Ove Svejstrup

Partner - EY
Ove Svejstrup is a partner at EY based in Guernsey, responsible for providing assurance services to funds and companies in the wealth and asset management and banking sectors.
With more than two decades at EY, Ove has gained considerable experience, having worked with listed financial service groups and liaised with regulators across numerous jurisdictions. His expansive portfolio in alternative funds, which includes infrastructure, private equity, real estate and funds of funds, reflects his diverse expertise. He currently serves asset and fund managers across North America, the UK, and the Nordics.
Originally from Denmark, Ove started his career with EY in their Copenhagen office in 2001. During his tenure, he served several companies within the financial services industry. In 2012, he was seconded to EY’s Guernsey office for two years before transitioning there permanently in 2016.
Ove leads quality and enablement initiatives across the EY Channel Islands offices, preparing audit teams to meet stakeholders' quality expectations, including regulators. With a keen interest that originated in Fintech a decade ago, Ove is always up to date with the latest technological advancements that impact financial services and regularly delivers seminars on digital assets
